London is definitely a city that demands a lot of walking, so since leaving Beijing it has been my sneaker collection that has been expanding slowly across my bedroom floor... But I am definitely still a sucker for beautiful heels! I've already blogged about these particular beauties, and am now planning to rock them at a friend's wedding this weekend (best excuse for new shoe purchases... :P). Hope my legs are ready! ;)

Frends are a boutique brand that make the prettiest headphones I think I've ever seen. I love the interchangeable ear pieces and white headband - and check out their latest collection in collaboration with Rebecca Minkoff, insane! From now on, this beauty is my essential travel companion... :)

Found a great little spot in Amsterdam in De Pijp area - Bakers & Roasters. The cafe is run Kiwi-style, meaning a fresh, healthy menu - and of course, delicious coffee. The place was pumping at lunch, so you have to be prepared to queue - but it's worth the wait!
As a semi-fashion-obsessed female any trips abroad should, I feel, include at least a modest exploration of the local shopping scene. Am I right, ladies? I've been back and forth to Amsterdam a number of times now, and there are a few places I always make a beeline to when in town. For anyone who's also retail-therapy inclined, I thought I'd let you know about some of the key areas worth checking out:
- De Bijenkorf. Epic department store off Dam Square. It's now part of the Selfridges Group and is full of the best Dutch and international brands.
- Kalverstraat, Leidsestraat, and Haarlemmerdijk. These are the city's most popular shopping streets featuring everything from high street favourites (Zara, H&M, etc) to independent labels, shoe stores, and a few great specialty food and coffee spots.
- De 9 Straatjes. 'The 9 Streets' in English, this is definitely my favourite place to shop in Amsterdam. Located in a quieter part of the city full of lovely little boutiques and vintage stores,
- Pieter Cornelisz Hoofstraat. P.C. Hoofstraat is Amsterdam's luxury shopping street in the Museum quarter. Hermes, Chanel, Cartier, Louis Vuitton... it's all here. Definitely more a window-shopping kinda street for me - but hey, it doesn't hurt to dream right ;)
If anyone has any other recommendations or suggestions, I'd love to hear it! :)

One of the highlights of my recent weekend in Amsterdam was visiting the Marcel Wanders exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam's home of modern and contemporary art and design. An incredibly innovative and inspired Dutch designer, the exhibition is full of some of his most impressive and well known pieces. I was so impressed with his work, and have decided I now need to work super hard to afford to fill my *future* home with some of his pieces... hehe :D
If you're in Amsterdam and interested in interior design, definitely check this one out. And even if you are not - the museum itself is definitely worth a visit. Ten years of renovation has not gone to waste!

Just spent another lovely weekend in Amsterdam. I love how easy it is to travel around in Europe - still can't believe it's only a 45min flight away from London! Loads more photos coming soon... :)
p.s. Apologies that it has been mostly iPhone snaps lately. With only carry-on luggage allowance, the SLR ends up being a bit more than I'm able to carry - but hopefully these still do Amsterdam justice ;)

My brother and I are both obsessed with really good coffee. Finding those local spots that just nail it every time! One of our favourite weekend rituals is to enjoy a long brunch, catching up over bacon and eggs, and creamy, delicious coffee.
Climpson & Sons is a great little spot on Broadway Market in Hackney - and they source their ingredients locally in a conscious effort to help sustain the local community. Definitely worth checking out!
One of the best spots out east, Crate Brewery sits on the canals in Hackney Wick serving great pizza and beer. Relaxing outside by the water, beer and pizza in hand... just what every Sunday evening needs ;)

Colours of Hackney Wick.
A bit of a trek to get to for those who don't live in and around east London, but definitely worth the effort - this neighbourhood has a number of hidden treasure like great cafes & bars that sit on the canals, and is a living canvas for street artists. Love it all!

Growing up I was a swimmer. Every day after school and often on weekends, my brother and I would train at the pools, for almost 10 years. I remember slopping around in my Adidas sliders, towel over my shoulder and goggles tucked in to my togs (that's Kiwi for bathing suit). Seeing these in the stores again brought back all those happy memories of high school and being a kid and playing sports. So happy to bring these back into my life this summer!
